While selling Christmas trees is our primary business, we realize that much of our success comes by keeping family traditions alive. Many of our customers have been coming here since we sold our first tree in 1990. For the past 22 years, Honeybee Acres has been operated as a family run 'Cut Your Own Christmas Tree' farm. Our farm is conveniently located on the west side of Elgin on Bowes Road.
In 2011, we are open 9 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 25, 26, 27, December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11. We sell three types of trees up to ten feet tall; Pines (at $38.95), Spruces (at $54.95) and Firs (at $54.95). Cash, check or credit card are accepted - No American Express or debit cards. Check out the website www.realchristmastrees.org for tree information on tree types. If you know what kind of tree you prefer, we can direct you to the proper area, although most of our customers prefer to wander the field until they find the perfect tree, regardless of type. Remember to bring a plastic bag, a blanket or tarp for the top of your car and a hand saw.
At Honeybee Acres, we try to make your experience a pleasant one. Indoor parking is available in inclement weather. The tree field is conveniently located in close proximity to the parking lot. Saws are available to borrow or purchase. Tree carts are available to haul your tree out of the field. We are a pet friendly farm, as long as, your pet is friendly and remains on a leash. Owners are requested to clean up after their dogs. Pets are not allowed in eating areas.
After the tree is cut down, we take a picture of you with your tree in Santa's sleigh. Santa has been known to make frequent stops at the farm. The tree is then placed in the tree shaker where the loose needles and other debris are removed. This is a very important part which keeps a majority of needles out of your home. Whenever possible, the tree is then baled in netting to make it easier to get into the house. The tree should be placed in the stand before remove the netting. Apple cider is included with a purchase of a tree. Santa's helpers are available to help you tie your tree to your vehicle.
After you have had your picture taken with your tree, join us in the 'Reindeer Cafe' , now serving breakfast and lunch from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The menu includes pancakes and bacon, grilled hot dogs, home made chili, fresh baked cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and 13 flavors of hot chocolate including the flaming S'mores.
We also sell wreaths, garland, American made tree stands and Yankee Christmas scented candles.
We leave the hardest part, picking out the perfect tree, up to you.
